I went to a Thai restaurant last Saturday night. It was my first time there, and the chef was a real, mature woman. The ordering system was to write your order on a piece of paper and hand it in, but since it was my first time, I didn’t know that. I kept waiting at my table, but no one came, so I finally went up to the kitchen and said, “Excuse me, could I have a beer, please?” When I mentioned a few dishes, the chef told me to write my order down on the paper.

I can’t eat as much as I used to these days, but the grilled chicken dish called Gai Yang was delicious, and so was the green curry. There were two female customers who seemed to have come all the way from Tokyo—they looked like sophisticated adults—and another couple at a table. After that, no new customers came in, though Uber Eats deliveries showed up about five times.

Later that Saturday night, I went to a snack bar and sang a few songs.

On Sunday, I said to myself, “I’ll go home early today because there’s a camper van show.”

So yesterday, Sunday, I went all the way to Yokohama thinking it was the camper van show. But when I got there, the sign said Tamago Club and Hiyoko Club (a parenting event). At the reception desk, they asked me, “Are you here alone?” I had already noticed there were a lot of baby strollers coming from the station, and sure enough—I was a whole week early! The camper van show is actually next Sunday.

I was so shocked at myself. But since I’d already come all that way, I decided to stop by a restaurant called Shinjuku Saboten and had fried oysters and a pork cutlet. I was completely full when I went home. Honestly, I felt so foolish—I couldn’t believe I’d made such a silly mistake

私は先週土曜日の夜にタイ料理店に行きました。そこは初めて行きましたが、本物の大人の女性がコックさんでした。注文の仕方が紙に書いて出すということでしたが、私は初めてなのでわかりません。ずっと席で待っていたのですが、誰も来ないので、しびれを切らして厨房へ行きすいません。ビールくださいと言いました。いくつかの料理を言うとコックの女性は注文は紙に書いてくださいと言いました。最近あまりたくさん食べられないのですが、焼き鳥のガイヤーンとか言うのもおいしかったし、グリーンカレーもおいしかったです。お客さんも東京から来た女性2人組はなんと大人だったようで、もう1組はカップルでした。それ以降お客さんは来ませんでした。しかしUber Eatsが5回ぐらい来ていました。その後土曜の夜はスナックへ行って歌いました。日曜日はキャンピングカーショーダーだから、もう今日は帰ると言いました。昨日の日曜日、私は横浜までキャンピングカーショーだと思ってきました。ところがたまひよクラブと書いてあって、受付に行きましたらお一人ですかと聞かれました。何か駅からベビーカーが多くてやけに多いなと思っていたのですが、なんと私は1週間間違えていました。来週の日曜日がキャンピングカーショーでした。私は自分にあけれましたが、そのまま帰るのも何なので、新宿サボテンと言うお店でカキフライとロースカツを食べて満腹になって帰りました。ほんとに間抜けですね。自分でも呆れてしまいます。
